The boys hit it big in Astronaut on Friday the 3rd when they faced the War Eagles in a conference game, winning 4-1. On Tuesday, the Scorps continued their conference winning streak, mercy ruling the Cocoa Beach Minutemen 0-10 in 5 innings with 13 hits and 2 errors. Pitcher Zack Kornick only gave up 1 hit against the Minutemen, who made 5 errors during Tuesday’s game. Kornick reflects that “it felt good” to shutout Cocoa Beach. “I pitched well, probably one of my best games of the year.” Junior Chet Moore also had a great game, scoring 3 runs off of 4 hits: a double, 2 stolen bases, and a homerun hit. The boys faced Cocoa Beach a second time that week on Thursday at Cocoa Beach, coming home with a second win and a shutout (3-0)  against the Minutemen. The game was pitched by Alec Eldridge, 11,  and Ian Romanisko, 11,  who did not allow the Minutemen an opportunity to score.

Along with Varsity, JV Scorps finally grabbed a W against the War Eagles in a non-conference home game, winning 3-13. The boys carried this momentum to beat Merritt Island 9-10. Freshman Gavin Fuentez credits much of the team’s success to teammate John Coston (10). “He hit some tanks and hyped the team [up], once we got our bats going we started to play really well.  We built up momentum [and] were playing like a team, hitting well, fielding well, [and] JD [Arnold] made some good [stops behind the plate].”
