“A dog is the only thing on Earth that will love you more that you love yourself”( Josh Billings). Dogs have always been man’s best friend; however, if you want to strengthen the bond between you and your furry friend, here are some exciting things to do in Brevard County.

Dog parks are a great way for your dog to interact with others and burn energy. Some dog parks around Brevard include: the Bryant Adams Park located in West Melbourne, Fred Poppe Regional Park located in Palm Bay, Clements Wood Park located in West Melbourne, Wickham Park Dog Park located in Melbourne, and Quest Dog park located in Viera. There is a new organization located in Sebastian called the Disc Dog Club where you can bring your dog and throw frisbees together.

If your dog likes the water, Canova Beach Park is perfect for you and your furry friend to enjoy the beach together and maybe get Surf n Turtle afterward. Surf n Turtle offers a dog ice cream so you and your dog can enjoy a cold snack after a hot day at the beach. Remember to bring a frisbee or tennis ball because that can be a great way to bond with your pet!If you do not feel like driving anywhere, you can buy a kiddy pool and fill it with water a balls and your pup will be set for hours.

The concept of “fetch” can be hard especially for a puppy. I just got a lemon hound puppy who is about 6 months old. He has not figured out that when you throw a tennis ball, he is supposed to get it. Here are some tips if you are having the same difficulty with your furry friend: Put peanut butter on the tennis ball let him/her smell it and have them chase after it. Once they get the idea of chasing the ball, repeat it a couple more times and then give them a break, offer him or her affection after they get the ball, if him/her does not seem interested in the tennis ball, find something they are interested in.

Here are some more fun ideas to do with your dog

  1. Throw your dog a birthday bash!
  2. Go for a run or jog together
  3. Go on a camping trip
  4. Have a doggie play date
  5. Play fetch at a park
  6. Go on a canoe trip
  7. Have a photo shoot with your dog
  8. Watch the puppy bowl together
  9. Learn to surf together
  10. Treat your dog to spa day!

Overall, there are many fun opportunities around Brevard that you and your dog will definitely enjoy doing, so go out and enjoy nature because they aren’t always going to be apart of your life, but for him or her, you are their whole life.

I agree with a lot of the ways that you suggested to bond with your dog. I have gone on a camping trip and lots of canoe trips with my dog and we have a really great bond. I also suggest to take your dog on a hike.
