The Satellite Track team has been an icon in the 2018 season winning Cape Coast Conference, Districts, and now the Regions meet that has NEVER happened before in Satellite High history. The meet was an overall success regardless of the many sunburns and blisters as a result. Of the athletes competing in the regional meet, here is the list of the 21 state qualifiers: Marie Groppel(4 by 800), Julia Lavrador(4 by 800), Sara Towers(4 by 800), Chelsea Basford(4 by 800), Alexandra Piriz(Pole Vault), Noah Mumme(Pole Vault, 4 by 100), Luis Morris(Discus and Pole Vault), Scott Wieand(Discus), Joe Schwartz(Discus),  Henry Covington(Shot Put), JD Arnold(Shot Put), Alex Iervasi(Shot Put), Zarius Cobb(4 by 100), Zerius Cobb(4 by 100), Beau Cole(4 by 100), Thomas Persicketti(High Jump), John Padilla(800, 1600, 4 by 800), Charlie Dickinson(3200, 1600, 4 by 800), Walker Hirsch(4 by 800, 3200), Joshua Claybaugh(Triple Jump), and Trenton Korte(4 by 800). The following are alternates for the relay events: Ashley Basford(4 by 800), Brianna Basford(4 by 800), Kyler Hicks(4 by 100), Gabe Montague(4 by 800), Luke Dickinson(4 by 800), and Lana Rukab(4 by 800).

Overall, the boys beat Hollandale by 6 points when both Noah Mumme and Luis Morris placed 1st and 2nd in pole vault adding 18 points to the score bumping us 6 points ahead thus helping us win the first ever regional champion trophy for Satellite. Coach Doug Butler states, “the boys and girls performed at their very best level at the region meet and 21 of the 26 kids that competed advanced to the state meet. An amazing accomplishment.”

The state meet will take place on May 4th and 5th at the UNF track.
